Join us for an in-person event with the author of The Voice of Hope: Aung San Suu Kyi from Prison and A Meditator's Refuge. The Voice of Hope offers a profound insight into Aung San Suu Kyi's thoughts and experiences from her release in 2010 to her recent imprisonment in 2021, challenging the narrative of her silence during the Rohingya crisis. A Meditator's Refuge is a comprehensive guide to meditation and mindfulness, drawing from 40 years of handwritten notes and teachings from Mahasi Sayadaw and Sayadaw U Pandita. This event will shed light on significant nonviolent struggles and the ongoing crisis in Burma.
Alan Clements was one of the first Westerners to be ordained in Myanmar, where he trained in Satipatthana Vipassana meditation under Mahasi Sayadaw and Sayadaw U Pandita. After being forced to leave Myanmar in 1984, he returned to the West and became a prominent speaker and author on mindfulness, human rights, and nonviolent revolution. He is the author several books, including The Voice of Hope and Instinct for Freedom. Clements founded World Dharma, focusing on global human rights and personal transformation.
